Migration tool

Tell us where your mail is now and where it should go

You need the login for your current mailbox and the login for your SagaMail mailbox. Not sure of the server or port? Pick your provider and we fill them in.

From Your current mailbox

The mailbox you are leaving.

Gmail and Yahoo need an app password instead of your normal one.

To Your SagaMail mailbox

The mailbox that receives your mail.

Only for existing SagaMail customers. The mailbox below must already be created. No mailbox yet? Create one first.

Use the IMAP settings shown for your mailbox in your SagaMail account.

How it works

Four steps, and you only do the first two

  1. Enter your current mailbox

Email address, password, IMAP server and port for the account you are moving away from.

  2. Enter your SagaMail mailbox

The same four details for the mailbox you already created with SagaMail.

  3. We test both logins

If a server, port or password is wrong, you see which side failed and can fix it straight away.

  4. Mail is copied across

Messages and folders move to SagaMail in the background. Your old mailbox stays as it is.

Before you start

What the tool moves, and what you still do yourself

We copy

  • Messages and attachments from every folder in the mailbox.
  • Your folder structure, so Inbox, Sent and your own folders line up.
  • One mailbox per request. Moving a team? Run it once for each person.

You handle

  • Switching your domain's mail records (MX) to SagaMail when you are ready to receive there.
  • Contacts and calendars. Export them from your old provider and import them into SagaMail.
  • Turning on IMAP at your old provider if it is switched off. The table below says how.

Questions

Before you press start

Is the migration really free?

Yes. The migration tool is free for SagaMail customers, and support help with a migration does not cost extra.

Who can use it?

Anyone who already has a mailbox with SagaMail. The destination mailbox must exist before you start, because mail is copied into it.

Will my old mailbox be changed or emptied?

No. The tool reads from your old mailbox and writes to SagaMail. Your old mailbox keeps its mail until you close it yourself.

How long does it take?

It depends on how much mail you have and how fast your old provider responds. A small mailbox can be done quickly. A mailbox with many years of attachments takes longer, and it keeps running in the background.

Where do I find my IMAP server and port?

Use the table above for common providers. For anything else, look for "IMAP settings" in your provider's help pages, or ask us and we will find it with you.

My provider asks for an app password. What is that?

Gmail and Yahoo block normal passwords from other apps when two-step verification is on. You create a separate app password in your account security settings and enter that in the password field.

Can I move several mailboxes?

Yes, one at a time. Fill in the form again for each mailbox. If you have a lot of them, contact support and we will plan it with you.

Is my mail safe during the move?

Our servers are in India, and your data is never used to train AI models. We use your old mailbox password only to run this transfer.
